Narrative Edit: (Untitled)

A short film about nostalgia and the loss of a love/interest in a passion due to pressure and expectations at a young age.

In my edit series I challenged myself in areas that I was not quite confident in, as i have little experience in documentary style videos, I spent a majority of my time and effort into this project. Admittedly this left me with little time for my narrative which was very rushed, but i am happy with how my documentary turned out. By having 3 diverse styles of videos, this allowed me to expand on my skills in pre-production to post-production, specifically planning in my pre-production phase. A particular editing technique that i found most helpful with my handheld camera work was ‘warp stabiliser’ which allowed my footage to come out a lot smoother than what it originally was, this was helpful because some shots and angles I had were originally unusable due to how change the footage was, but after applying this effect it allowed me more options and flexibility with my videos.

As I was in charge of creating, filming and editing these edits, it made me appreciate each step very thoroughly and taught me to not rush through them, despite being more confident in my editing skills, it has encouraged me to improve and venture into other areas which has been extremely beneficial for me. By familiarising myself with all aspects in creating media, I think it will only make my creative process more efficient and allow myself to explore in multiple areas of the film industry.
