As the course concludes I believe I gained a lot more than I would have previously anticipated. I knew at its baseline I would be honing in and sharpening my editing fluency, however I was surprised by the sheer amount of progress I had made by the end of the semester. When I began, I noted in my first reflection that I wanted to choose a studio that would develop my skills in a more direct fashion and find a way to cultivate my passion, and that I believed editing to be where every change has meaning. The in-class workshops every few weeks themselves tested me in different ways and forced me to give my own spin on each project. I was able to express myself creatively while simultaneously learn to do what was required of me as an editor. My technical fluency has reached heights I’d only dreamt of reaching and I feel more confident than ever has a media practitioner. More specifically my confidence and speed in which I edit on ‘Premier Pro’ which was one of my main goals in development. I believe that in-taking this course, my future as a media practitioner looks brighter, and I feel as though I have a strong enough foundation to continue my works, taking more creative liberty and confidence in what I do.
