Reflection:

At the beginning of this course, I described my intention to reach out of my comfort zone and experiment with different Premier Pro features and shooting different types of media such as commercials and the horror and action genre. Completing the major project, I was able to learn and research many new skills that I could apply to my three videos, including technical colour grading, noise reduction, and text and logo transitions, which I had not known prior to this course. I was also able to learn how to film and edit a commercial as well as followed through with my goal to film a thriller/horror film, which was very much outside of my comfort zone. The course surpassed my expectations with the amount of filming and video projects that took place, which allowed us to gain more hands-on experience before having to film our own videos. Additionally, it taught me a lot about being intentional with my edits and ensuring every decision I make came with some intention which aided the storyline or aesthetic of the piece of media. Learning all the theory and watching clips of films in class also showed me how even the slightest change in editing changes a storyline or perception of the film so drastically, so I should always have a clear understanding of what how I want my piece of media to be perceived before filming and editing and ensure the final edit results in my intended story. I believe the filming and editing skills learnt and applied in this course will assist me in my media making journey and career in the future.
