Matthew’s Edit Series

The following Edit series was created by Matthew Robertson and comprises 3 edited works of different genres:

EDIT 1: ‘Viv Wright: A Spotlight on Skill’ (Documentary, 2.12 Mins)

Viv Wright is a 20 year old soccer player studying to become an exercise scientist. We delve into Viv’s world and aspirations as he discusses his journey, from playing in the 2023 National Para Football Championship and his growing interest in the world of Exercise Science and Physical Rehabilitation. Despite Viv’s life-long battle with Cerebral Palsy, this documentary seeks to show how this disability doesn’t define who Viv is, as he has been able to rise above and meet his goals and ambitions.

EDIT 2: ‘Should’ve Taken PTV Spec Ad’ (Commercial, 1.30 Mins)

We witness Average Melbournian Worker Collins’ morning from hell as he attempts to travel into the CBD during the morning rush hour traffic. As he becomes more and more late for his presentation, facing red lights, empty fuel tanks and parking restrictions, Collins is met with the realisation that using the services of Public Transport Victoria is far more convenient, timely and environmentally beneficial for his morning commute. This is a Spec Ad aimed at the media advertising team of PTV to present a concept of what a narrative-driven PTV Advertisement COULD look like.

EDIT 3: ‘Where Were You Last Night?’ (Narrative, 2.12 Mins)

Have you ever wondered where your roommates pop off to in the late hours of the night? Well, Riley has. And when his roommate Glen stumbles in after a crazy night out, Riley is met with a fantastical tale of Action, Horror and Harry Potter DVD’s that Glen has found his way in the middle of. This comedic narrative short film seeks to spoof key examples of genre editing with a noticeable Australian wit and cynicism. Furthermore, this short film is pitched as a jumping off point to a larger scale television or web series featuring the same dopey yet hilarious characters.
