ADI’s EDIT SERIES

THE EDIT SERIES

1. Dames & Sea Smoke (Narrative) – Two strangers find themselves inexplicably connected by an unknown energy, and all they have to show for it is a shared glance. I wanted to capture the feeling of strange desire and an off-putting energy – use the visual pace (the rhythm of the cuts) to effectively built to a cathartic narrative crescendo.

2. Baller Investigations – Gettin’ Ziggy with It (Commercial) – The young and eccentric “Ziggy Baller” markets his private investigation service. On the opposite end of the spectrum to where my narrative landed, I wanted to create an intentionally sloppy energy for this – a highly entertaining but very jarring advertisement that is both visually and sonically unpredictable.

3. 351 – 374 Swanston Street & its faces (Documentary) – A poetic documentary that observes a small area of the CBD for 2 minutes, naturally documenting the mundane everyday life set to chaotic free-jazz music. I wanted the cutting (helped by the music choice) to make the audience feel trapped in my presentation of this location, yet have it be so that there can be many different personal interpretations if explored under the surface.
