What you see here is a result of an experimental process that is more focused on the journey than the destination.
For some it’s a “final project”, but for others it is the beginning of an exploration of world and character that very well may have life beyond this course.
From when we first started I have seen them all grow in leaps and bounds to be more articulate directors, with deeper levels of understanding of world, character and of themselves.
The focus for this course was to investigate a variety ways of working with actors to elicit memorable performances. The students learnt about script analysis, actioning, peeling back to layers of a script to discover subtext and to keep digging deeper to reveal the nuances of the script. The students also learned how to put out casting calls, run auditions, rehearsals and improvisations.
The culmination of the course was to develop and script their own scene, cast it, rehearse it, shoot it and edit it. The results which exist on these pages.
Enjoy watching the fruit of their labour!
