THE PRODUCTION – a short scene by Cecilia Quinn.
SYNOPSIS –
Two sisters discuss how to bounce back after one of them gets rejected by a play in their local theatre company.
WHAT I GOT OUT OF IT –
Although there was an emphasis on acting, this class has helped me understand the magic of a good script. I found that by writing good characters I was able to squeeze the role (played by my little sister) out of my actor in the best way possible. I also learnt the importance of collaboration, acting is an art form, it is not puppeteering, I learnt the importance of respect and collaboration as a director. Most importantly I found that through my struggles, I gained inspiration to improve on my craft, I wasn’t happy with the camera work in my film, mostly because I was low on crew and so it wasn’t something that I was super proud of and could give my undivided attention to. I realise now the importance of a crew and a DP. This project has helped me to also improve upon my editing skills, as I found this my biggest challenge.
I am really excited to transfer over my skills into a project outside of school, gaining relationships with my actors and improving upon my screenwriting skills, as well as technical aspects of filmmaking.
