A homage to those who really loveĀ ‘The Blair Witch Project’. Josh is a filmmaker and found footage horror enthusiast who finds himself constantly drawing parallels to existing horror media. He plans a “camping trip to the forest” with 3 of his reluctant “friends” in the hopes of something terrible happening to the 4 of them so he can document it in his very own horror film.

Filmed in one evening/night in a very specific park in Clayton, to say the production process was interesting would be an understatement. The film embraces various unconventional techniques and tropes, from the very unlikeable protagonist, the handheld camera and lack of editing, it was an interesting exercise having to “unlearn” basic filmmaking skills in order to make this film work. My main goal throughout all stages of production was to make something I would personally really love, even at the cost of other people’s enjoyment. I’m rather happy to have embraced several alienating styles and choices that I personally adore, from the cringe humour dialogue, the “bad on purpose” visual style, multiple storylines or interpretations of the film or even effective horror minimalism. In the 8 minute run-time, there’s probably a deeper profound message about inspiration and passion in the face of adversity that I would love to claim as intentional but truthfully this is just a vent piece about how I annoy my friends with my love for movies.
