My Three works:
Narrative: The Assassin- A short action sequence focusing on an assassin taking out a target with an emphasis in the edit on the sound design,
Documentary: The Surf Journey- The Story of an amateur surfer in Melbourne and his experiences riding waves.
Commercial: Sound Emporium- a commercial for a music equipment store.
I got a lot out of working on these three edits, Each edit had its own challenges and successes, but ultimately each edit helped me grow as an editor and a media maker. Through the narrative, I learned a lot about planning and pre-production before then delving into the very complex and minute details of sound design. For the documentary, again there were issues with audio clarity which had to be solved but I developed my ability to pull out and produce a condensed story from a longer interview while still having it be impactful and emotional. The commercial taught me a lot about visual appeal, I focused a lot in this edit on making it as succinct and energetic as possible while employing a striking visual style through transitions animations, etc.
Overall this editing series has helped me become a more well-rounded editor and has greatly improved my confidence in the editing software but also in my ability to troubleshoot and workaround any issues that may arise in the future.
