Death of Cinema: In Loving Memory pt2

After the entrance of the coffin during the live performance, Father IMAX (Addison Law) from the Cinematic Church delivers a eulogy of the life of cinema, ranging from his years with the Lumiere brothers to the more contemporary era of streaming services where cinema was addicted to streaming services, which inevitably led to his death.

The eulogy then follows a collage of movies curated by Sofia, Lily, Lu and Addo to continue the personification of Cinema by revealing different stages of life: Birth, Childhood, Life, Downfall and Death. Rather than simply ordering the clips chronologically, the videos were sequenced in the order that made cinema as a concept more human, by showcasing significant parts of its life, like falling in love graduating, coming out of the womb, etc. Paired with Father IMAX’s speech, the video becomes more sensical when the more contemporary films on streaming services are what led cinema to its demise.
