The intention of this piece was to hear from strangers about the people that they love and miss. I went out onto the street with a sign that read “If you miss someone, hug me and/or tell me about them”. It was an offer for a challenge for a lot of people, and because of the challenging nature of approaching a stranger like that, not many people came up, but the ones that did all had a unique story to tell.
Throughout the making of this film, I learned how difficult it can be to find stories in the world as people tend to keep to themselves. I quickly realised that even non-fictional pieces require a LOT of planning, even if they appear simpler at first. I also enjoyed editing the piece, despite difficulties with audio and having enough footage which I had to learn to deal with, and the final product made me smile, as I hope it does for other people too.
