Commercial edit: Until the Clock Runs Out. A motivational, and face-paced Speedo advertisement, created for display on the brand’s YouTube channel to promote their various swimwear products. This advertisement targets professional athletes and competitive swimmers, who want to invest in swimwear that guarantees elevated performance, thus giving them a competitive advantage over other swimmers.
Narrative edit: But I Was Still a Virgin! A stylistically experimental, 2-minute, scripted short film that serves as a glimpse behind the scenes into the adolescent girl’s complex, inner world. Anxious about the prospect of growing up and adulthood, two girls aim to live in the moment and reclaim their adolescence.
Documentary edit: Understanding Beauty and Self. A 2-minute heartfelt interview exploring 20 year old Eman’s, struggle with self-esteem under the crushing pressures of the Eurocentric beauty standards, and a meditation on the importance of appreciating your heritage.
I conceptualised, pitched, scripted, filmed, and edited all three of these videos over the span of two gruelling months. They have each demanded a certain level of skill and experience, of which I’m proud to say I have mostly acquired over the course of this studio. Most notably, I’ve gained the ability to be a more professional and efficient editor, who has learnt to shape footage into a story and properly prepares their edit before cutting. These are invaluable skills which assist me in my future editing prospects.
