Radio show on Triple R
Shaun, Amy, Daniel and Niamh – Team 3
Recording our radio show for Triple R was an amazing experience that allowed all of us to not only develop our own technical and media making skills, but also gave us the opportunity to showcase some really interesting stories. We had three interviews in total from the following guests:
- Annie Fox from Kaleido Art Therapy in Melbourne; she provides insight into how art therapy works, what it looks like in practise, and how it differs from psychology.
- Clarissa, an international student from Indonesia now studying at RMIT University; she talks about the coronavirus pandemic has had an impact on her experience
- Thomas Feng, Media officer at Youth Affairs Council Victoria (YACVic); he discusses the work that the organisation does, his role in it, and why advocating for young people is so important.
This radio show was broadcast on Triple R FM on May 3rd 2022 with all the necessary copyright/music rights clearances. You can find the show on the Triple R website here.
Radio Feature
Our group chose to base our radio feature around a Melbourne band called Loveboner.
It explores how the band members, and long time couple, Chris and Laura have found a safe place in the Melbourne queer punk scene to explore their sexuality and gender, helping them grow within their relationship and as individuals.
We felt that hearing the experiences of queer and non binary people first hand was really important and needed to be heard. Their transparency about their journey and how it translates into their joyful, erotic and unflinchingly honest music was amazing. We were very lucky to get the chance to talk with them, and learn more about their craft as well.
