Garments Against Waste
PhD student Rute Chaves is interested in old clothes. Concerned by the vast amounts of garment waste in our society, Rute invites the public to M-Pavilion for an art exhibit titled Garments Against Waste. Together, they unwind old garments and transform them into something new using a hacked knitting machine. GARMENTS AGAINST WASTE is a 4-minute documentary that highlights the integral role that community can play in making a difference, and how art can be a site for “critical dreaming”.
