Summary:
In our sensory video work titled Framing the Hill we attempted to explore the relationship between people and the environment they find themselves in. This relationship is demonstrated in the film through our protagonist exploring and photographing the You Yang national park. As the protagonists moves deeper into the park they loose their camera and begin hurriedly searching for it in the undergrowth. While they may not find their camera the protagonist dose discover a deeper connection with the environment and nature overall.
As we chose to make a narrative video rather than an interactive media art piece, the process was quite simple. After planning with a plot summary and shot list we travelled to the You Yangs and shot the piece, finding locations as we moved through the park. In the post production stage we edited the video together on Premier Pro and added some slight colour correction, ADR and foley recordings.
The video also includes a behind the scenes look at the production drawing a connection between our experience filming and the experience of the protagonist in the story. We learnt like our protagonist that despite planning prior to filming, the environment you exist in may still effect you in unexpected ways.
