The structural elements of this script allowed room for the actors to showcase plenty of subtext and really delve into the intricacies of relationships throughout both the rehearsal and performance process. Regarding collaboration with the actors, I chose to approach this shoot primarily through a conversational lens. Deliberately moving away from a rehearsal heavy, pre-production period enabled the performers to thoughtfully, but naturally, draw parallels between themselves and their characters. As you can see, this approach resulted in their ability to elicit relatable and nuanced performances absent of a staged or mechanical sensation.

This unit showed me how satisfying it is to bring your own work to life from nothing. Conceptualising your story, writing the words, casting your characters, bringing the world to life, editing all of these facets together… I found the entire process enjoyable and though at times it was stressful, it has both encouraged and motivated me moving forward to create more original content.
