I was lucky to be able to interview award-winning cinematographer, Bonnie Elliott, over Zoom. I believe Bonnie is an excellent filmmaker, woman and role model to highlight in the Melbourne Women Film Festival – she represents the type of female vision that needs to be seen and celebrated. Through a series of montages, we can witness the alchemical side of film and Bonnie’s ability to capture the inherent, and often unpredictable, beauty of the world. I hope to inspire audiences with Bonnie’s unique vision, perspective and triumphs as a renowned cinematographer.

I deeply resonate with Bonnie’s creative vision throughout all of her works. She consistently reveals the evocative nature of subjective cinema, delivering an intimate and emotionally resonant experience on screen. Creating this profile has not only been an inspiring process for me as a filmmaker, but she has also taught me invaluable insights as a young, female creative.
