UNRAVELLING THE REAL

Out Of The Wardrobe

Lachlan Riddle explores his identity and health in a short film documentary that endeavours to shine a light on the social intricacies of being queer in the modern age. This compelling story provokes the viewers to explore their own sense of self and invites them to explore themselves through their own expression.

Turning to fashion to explore his identity, Lachlan recounts the ins and outs of how society has both widened their acceptance of the LGBTQ community, while also identifying the connotations and negative experiences that have also come as a result. Battling various severe health conditions over his 24 years on this Earth, Riddle’s emotional story is a hopeful reminder that life is short and people’s opinions are transient.

Coming from a conservative background, the director hopes to demonstrate what he has learnt through his own journey of becoming more accepting and has chosen an individual that holds close importance in his life. Becoming friends late in 2020, Lachlan Riddle and Jude Islip have built a special bond that is complimented and displayed through the open and honest conversations had throughout ‘Out Of The Wardrobe’.
