Synopsis: Told over the course of 105 days in COVID-19 lockdown, ‘Her, or the Shadows?’ is a psychological thriller that follows Vanessa’s inability to accept the loss of a close friend. The story is told through a series of video diary recordings that, on her therapist’s guidance, our protagonist sends to the unattended email account that once belonged to her missing friend Elsa.
Our experience: In order to keep the film true to the periods of isolation that many of us have experienced throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, it was filmed entirely through a computer screen using applications like OBS and Zoom. Creating this film taught us a valuable lesson about the different ways in which a story can be told and about the inherent rewards and difficulties that come with this type of experimentation.
