Introduction

Blurr is an app that aims to raise awareness and ultimate mainstream privacy in an ever-intrusive world. Blurr’s primary goal is to raise awareness of the importance of privacy for individuals, both corporate and casual, and to make the online world safer for communicating sensitive information.
Blurr does this through password protection and military-grade two-way encryption, where even app developers cannot access users’ transmissions. Blurr allows users to use the app as a photo/video vault where sensitive images, artwork, or corporate work can be stored in a secure folder, encrypted and tucked away in a ‘my eyes only’ folder. Blurr Making free speech possible!

Process

The design process was complicated at first, starting with the logo pattern design and ending with the final teaser; we went through a lot of thinking, communication and practice. The idea in designing the app was around its simplicity and privacy, so we chose a professional but basic messenger app-type design. We did not want the user to have something overly complex, but at the same time, it needed to be professional to highlight the app’s importance on security. We worked as a team and assigned different tasks to each other.

We keep in touch on Facebook Messager and share each other’s ideas and suggestions. Keeping detailed records of our ideas and details of the progress of our tasks on a shared Google doc has also made us more efficient. We also got feedback from Van to incorporate our slogan more, which we did. From this task, we learned what FIX THE APP studio brings to the project, from designing the regulatory framework, understanding the platform’s censorship, and the indispensable teamwork and good communication that guaranteed us to complete the project.
