Christopher Bryde: The Documentary: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Bryde

A film by Oscar Clark and Liam Nicholas

This film is a short mockumentary exploring the life of a young Australian filmmaker. It follows him as he retells his story as filmmaker and tries to convince others of his film idea. It begins with the origins of his film passion and his subsequent creation of a local film society, and finishes with his effort to pitch his film. The film as a whole, is intended to be a humorous portrayal of what it is like to be an amateur filmmaker in Australia.

The making of this mockumentary has been a huge learning experience for us in a number of ways. We received substantial advice on comedic writing and timing which was something we were both unfamiliar with.  We had to learn to be flexible in our collaboration, and we significantly improved our planning and media organisational skills. The information gathered around the experiences of filmmakers was not only eye-opening, but had a notable influence on our media practice.
