Sarah Lavelle tells the story of misinformation and conspiracy theories and the affects they have on the Gen Z community and our wider society. She specifically focuses on the rise of medical misinformation on social media platforms such as facebook and instagram regarding the Covid-19 pandemic. Because these platforms are lacking in any sort of ethical principle it allows for information to spread from one person to the next, typically Gen Zers, like wildfire. Unfortunately, misinformation about the pandemic is like COVID-19 itself: highly contagious, destructive, and with no known treatment, allowing for people to be brainwashed. In saying this, Sarah has interviewed 2 people who represent the different sides of this debate as we consider how to separate truth from lies and stop the spread of bad information.
