While hiking in the remote Australian bush, Ada and Xander discover hidden CCTV cameras mounted in the trees, their present unexplained. As more cameras come into view, paranoia takes hold, and Ada grows increasingly convinced they’re being watched. Tensions rise as strange movements and eerie noises unsettle the pair, testing their trust in each other. When they uncover a shed filled with live camera feeds, their fears are confirmed, and the urgency to escape becomes overwhelming. Can Ada and Xander truly get out of sight before it’s too late?
The concept for Out of Sight grew from wanting to explore concepts of surveillance and paranoia. The dynamic between our two protagonists, illustrates varying responses in the presence of fear and uncertainty. We juxtaposed the tension of suspenseful soundscapes and narrative with the serene, tranquil imagery of the Australian bush. The making of Out of Sight was both challenging and deeply rewarding, pushing our boundaries of creativity and technical execution, offering invaluable opportunities for creative growth. Every step of the process required meticulous attention to detail, from conceptualising the narrative, to putting finishing touches on the edit.
This process has been pivotal in forming the foundations of our understanding of filmmaking. Through pre-production, production and post-production the challenges and successes we have experienced have expanded our knowledge and has given us the confidence to continue to grow in future projects. One of the key learnings we have gained is how technical competence can be used to enhance and progress a narrative. We are so proud of the growth in both our technical abilities, narrative storytelling and overall understanding of the filmmaking process.
