Assessment 3 (1)

This week’s topic is about camera’s movement. To start with, we did a lot of practice about shoot moving people. Middle shot and close up are easier than the wide shot because people have less movement in those shots. It is hard to follow the actor as the same speed if he walks so fast. He may out of the frame. However, there is an easy way to do this. We can move the camera before the actor move. If we count number before we do the filming, such as three, two, one and action, then we can start move camera at one. The process will be fluent and easier. The actor can stop at the target as the same time as the camera.

In that last situation, we frame at the beginning point. Because we move the camera with the actor, he can be always clear. However, things are change when we shoot the moving actor without moving camera. For example, my practice is as same as this situation. On the one hand, it hard to distinguish if it frames correctly. For part A, I framed at the point she would stop. The problem is that the frame won’t be clear until she walks to the target. For part B, it took too long to frame the other actor. I saw other group’s work, they can change the focus quickly. It looks like they framed both two actors before they shooting. On the other hand, there is an Obvious problem with actors looking at the camera. I have mentioned in the last reflection that it is often used in documentary instead of a movie. Normally, audiences watch the movie with the spectator’s view. It may make audience confuse if actors look at the camera. I forget this point when we do practice.

This time I added some sounds in editing. Luckily, the sound of high heels is as same speed as the actress walking. Otherwise, I have to cut the sound into different pieces then make frames fit with sounds. We actually are supposed to find all sounds and music we need before we do shooting. By this way, we can have an imagined picture and feel about what we want to show up and how we can film.
