For this documentary interview, I actually did twice. I did a face to face interview in the first interview using different shooting angles. However, when I started to editing, I found it may not right. The purpose I do the interview is showing the life of the interviewee instead of myself. I am supposed to focus on him. Thus, I decided to do the 2nd time shooting. For this time, I still asked questions. However, I only recorded the reactions and answers for the interviewee. Besides, I also recorded the way and the environment he lives to show more details of him, such as his home, his cats and the place he has lunch.

When I did editing, there were lots of problem I haven’t notice showing up. Because I shooting the start scene in a public place, the noise of environment I can not avoid. I tried the function in Pr. However, it is not that useful. After I added the music, the problem got ease. There was a serious problem which bothering me for a long time. For a change of angle and shot size, I recorded a same answer’s process for couple times. However, when I wanted to cut these in one scene, I found each recording are different even they have the same meaning. It is hard to use the sound of one scene and cut other scenes in. Thus, I decided to cut each scene to different part and use one part of each scene. It works well. Sometimes, the change of different scenes is too suddenly. Thus, I added some pictures between the scenes.

This video I finished is not a quite attractive film. The imagination and reality are always different. What I can do is making them closer next time.

What I can do better in next time? Preparation is significant for a interview. I did prepare the questions I want ask. However, these questions can not show the inside of a person. It can not show the special side of a person. The purpose we do a interview is showing the different aspect of person. Audiences do not want to see the the person eat and sleep. It’s not a good interview for this time’s purpose. There is no fault of interviewee, the only fault is the lacking of interviewer’s skills.

According to this process, I found I also need to prove the skills of shooting and editing. Actually, I am not sure if the way I shot and edit right. And how to change the color of film and add some special effects. The good thing is I can find these class on youtube and I can start to learn it.

I still need to build up skills of interviewing, shooting and editing. Don’t be too hurry also don’t stop learning.
