Media Minute: “It’s Time.”

This is a video that I came across during Year 11 VCE Media. It’s an ad from the organisation GetUp! that was produced as part of a campaign to legalise same sex marriage in Australia. It’s done in a really simple way that’s aimed to surprise audiences. It’s shown from the perspective of one half of a couple’s journey, which the audience presumes is a straight couple, but in the end is revealed to be a same sex couple. The ad shares the message that a gay relationship is just the same as as any other ordinary relationship, and I think the idea is really smart and creative.
