For this voice over task I thought I wanted to a little Terrence Malik kind of thing. The narration in his films are usually what makes the plots more confusing and hence creates this style that make people feel like “I understand but I don’t understand”. The thing with Terrence Malik’s signature style is that the narration usually has something that makes sense and is related to the plot, at the same time, it makes the plot 10 times more confusing with the rest of the things that have nothing to do with the storyline.
So in this one I thought maybe get creative and write something that’s really not about the nature/lake/birds but also make it seem to be of some profound philosophy/religious concepts just like Terrence Malik would do.
And now that I have finished it it looks really bad and makes me cringe. Because I think it turns out to be a really emo tumblr post that was probably inspired by the Twilight Saga.
I did add in a Forest ambience sound effect just to soften out the cringiness but the whole thing was probably just badly written and nothing could really help.
But the funny thing is that the first couple of second of ‘I always thought that I had seen you before/maybe when i was younger/or maybe in another life’ with the POV shot of the snake, to me, it really goes with the narration and has a sense of reincarnation in it.
For further improvement, I should really just delete it from the Internet. And please don’t screen this in class I will seriously be so embarrassed and want to cry.
