Advanced Video Piece & Reflection

I think in this short video the essence of the observational writing has been conveyed. It is easy for a viewer to get the idea of the boy simply cannot be bothered to talk to a person to order at when he hears the voice of the staff asking if anyone is ready to order and only flicks his eyes at the direction and quickly went back to browsing on the kiosk.

I edit the shots to be in a quick pace, in the video, he gets the receipts, cuts to he grabs the food and cuts to him walking out of there. I wanted to create the sense of that he’s in a hurry to leave and go back home so there will be no further human contacts. And this also contracts with the part at the beginning when he’d rather wait in line to use the kiosk to order than go up to a staff and order at the counter, which will save him from waiting in queue.

To make this more exquisite and more polished. The first thing needs to be fixed is the soundtrack. Noise reduction should be done and the ‘is anyone ready to order’ should be placed to the left channel. But I only recorded with my phone which was single channeled so in premiere pro it can’t be done.

There should be another shot between the first shot and she second shot. Originally, the second shot is a one tracking shot of medium close up from the back. But I had to cut it to the last bit because when the actor’s walking up the stairs, it’s a lot slower and was not stable so the shot becomes a medium shot and then back to a MDU because I caught up with his pace. After the establishing shot, there should be a shot from the side that could connect the wide to the MCU of the back so it wouldn’t look too weird or sudden and soother in transition.
