Week 7 Reflection

I have two observational writings that could be potentially adapted into films. The Night club one and the McDonald’s one. Both of them have the theme of social behaviors, which I’m very keen to make into films about. But my concern is that both of them could be hard to film due to their locations and the amount of actors needed.

I like the McDonald’s one better because it reflects a common human behavior and social phenomenon.  It is The Night Club one would also be cool to make but I feel like there’s not much depth in it that people can relate to. On the contrary, the behavior of avoiding social contacts might be relatable to everyone on different levels. So I think the McDonald’s one would be of better content to be adapted into a film.

In order to adapt it into a film, certain changes had to be applied to make it doable within my abilities. In my opinion, to get the ideology conveyed, the film doesn’t need a lot of actors. The film should reflect the fact that people’s anti-social behaviors and 1-2 characters would be enough to depict the notion.

Here’s what I have in mind so far:

A man goes into a Mcdonald’s and go straight to a kiosk and stand at the bottom of the queue. The staff behind the counter says ‘is anyone ready to order?’. The man tilts his head from the queue and  briefly glimpses at the staff and and eyes moved back to his phone. He scrolls up and down the menu on the screen, taking his time to decide and then finally orders. The staff is asking again at the background. He pays and takes the receipts and moves to the pick up area to wait for the food.
