Since we didn’t have to prepare a Mrs. Bates this time, we didn’t spend much time on props. However, we spent ages looking for an ideal location to film at.

The problem we had for this one was the direction of the lighting. We filmed all of governor Kobayashi’s shots first and then the side shots and then the reverse shots of Miyazaki. When we started to do Miyazaki’s shots, we’re already running out of time and it would be too much work to move all the lighting from the front to behind the desk. So we simply turn the desk and chair around, but then the continuity was broken. Though we tried to cast the same orange lighting from the left of the frame, the lighting looked different on the two’s faces.

And we also forgot to get a shot of Miyazaki’s close up while she delivers her last line. The one that should be most powerful if it’s a close up, but we only had a side shot for it. I think it’c because the shot list didn’t cover much and we realized that more angles had to be covered for specific lines and that there should be reaction shots for editing and then got lost in the rush of doing it.

While editing, we realized that there’s something wrong with the soundtrack. The sound sometimes comes out from the left and some times the right. So we made all the sound to come out from left channel. For governor Kobayashi’s sound, it’s too hard to fix so we recorded the lines again for the bits where the quality was too bad. It’s my first time doing a voice over but things worked out well. It’s sad that Aalaa didn’t have the time to edit with us, but I think Dan and I really tried our best to make things work. I’m really proud of the three of us for going against all odds to make these projects, it’s not easy to make a team of three to accomplish all these hard tasks. Even though I do feel like if there’d been more people in our group, the process would have been easier. But the less people there are in a group, the more each individual does, so I guess it’s good to have all these opportunities to practice in more aspects and ending up with a more advanced comprehension of filmmaking in general.
