Week 7 Initiative – Spook Street Shooting 01

So my journey with Tough Times Don’t Last ended and a new one begins. This time it is a TV series called Spook Street. And I work as the 2nd AD for the show. It’s my first time working on a set so everything was new to me! My job was to use the clapperboard to keep track of the secene/shot/take that we’re doing. A girl named Preethy was the 1st AD and she taught me a lot with the tracking and where to stand and when to clap. And I always have to check with her so the numbers are correct.

Later I was told that I got promoted to the 1st AD as Preethy had to leave early. Preethy told me everything I needed to do like tracking the time and make sure they don’t go over, ticking the boxes off of the shotlist to make sure nothing’s missed out. And the most important thing is to check with the director all the time so he does not leave something out when he’s too concentrated on other aspects.

When Preethy was gone I completely took over the job, I had to do the clapperboard while tracking the process, which was very hard to do. But I guess I was cool with multi-tasking so I didn’t have much trouble doing it. I was a natural.

The first time working on a set and witnessing things happen was such a memorable experience for me. All I had was thrills and thrills and thrills. I realized that this was what I wanted to do with the rest of my life and I’m so lucky RMITV made it possible for me to do it NOW.
