In this week’s workshop we were assigned to do an interview practice in a group of four (Carrie, Helena and Matt). We decided to check out a quiet courtyard at the back of the campus but when we got there, a group of people was already filming there. So we had to find another place to shoot. Eventually we settled with a place next to the stony stairs where there’s a couple benches under the trees. We shot a cutaway of the place (which I lost) and got into the interviewing. The topic is the advice for the first 6 weeks at RMIT and I was the first one to be interviewed. the lighting was soft and bright which is good for filming. And later it started to rain so we had to change our location to somewhere under a roof. We also did a wide shot of the second location. We did all the noddies and reaction shots after we’ve done the interviews. But I could not insert the reaction shots into the interviews because the interviewees do not speak for a long time when they were answering questions. It’s more like a chat between the two. So I just thought maybe it’s good to keep it simple and just put clips together. The interviews were not hard to do as I was only answering questions. But the editing is much harder due to the clips that we got were a bit hard to work with.
