By learning this week. We watched and discussed some of the camera movements used in the film. There are too many combinations of camera movements in certain scenes. Some are more or less the same. But some directors and cameramen use it creatively. Also can combine the montage special creation of some novel techniques. Camera movement mainly includes Zoom, Pan, Tilt, Dolly, Truck, Pedestal, Tack Focus and can also be placed on Steadicam or Aerial. You can play with them.

In class, we watched some clips. Robin showed us some long shots that were mostly taken by placing the camera on a Steadicam. But the last episode stands out to me. I think it’s called Freeze Time. Because the people, the cars, the things in the scene are not moving. It’s all cameras going through it. People hold on to the last move as if they were frozen. I know this technology is very easy to do in today’s world. Some post-effects software can now be used to make 3D models. For example, a lot of freeze time is used in the movie “Deadpool”. But what I marvel at is the people who imagined and built this technology at that time. I admire their imagination and creativity. We wanted to do a similar scene ourselves and we could find an empty neighborhood. Make sure that there is no wind, keep the actor’s clothes fixed, put some objects in the scene, use a fishing line if you want to hover in the air, but make sure that the sunshine does not reflect when you are shooting. Otherwise, the audience can see it.

And now we also have very good and very expensive high-speed cameras. We can make moving objects and adjust their speed rate in the post so that they are moving very slowly as if they are frozen. Now technology is widely used and cameras and special effects are getting better and better. We marvel at the technological progress to bring the different visual feasts to the film today. I also admire the creativity and imagination of directors and filmmakers in the film era of the last century. We still have a lot to learn.
