I just search Leonardo on Youtube and then this video shows up. and I think that is the one I want to talk about after I watching it. This scene felt like a sense of relief, He kidnaps a girl and he wants money. He is having a conversation with a man. Rick Dalton depressed throughout the film to see the Director. At 2:48 it was almost shocking to see a “happy moment” like that and in the movie, Rick just wants to be a good actor and be the best of the best. So when someone like a little girl gives him a compliment for his acting and ability to play another character, he feels really good about himself
in this scene, they don’t use 180 degree rules. because they use a first-person perspective a lot. the camera is in the same position each shot. but there are interesting things about the details. First of all, they set the camera to different angles and different heights. They set to a very high eye level when filming Rick and they set to low eye level when filming cowboy man. You will feel you are the character in the film having a conversation with another man. Secondly, each time the frame is zoomed out a little bit when the camera cuts to the next frame. The camera is more close to him when Rick is getting more emotional. From long shot to close up. at 2:00, the camera gives him an extremely close-up shot when Rick is yelling and saying $50,000. the camera change back to a long shot when Rick pushes the little girl on the floor. and then cut to the reaction between Rick and Cowboy.
I quite the way to bring emotions to the audience. when you are watching it you will feel tensional. I like the way to present the camera languages like this. it makes me feel I am in this film.
