Documentary is a combination of film and television communication. It is different from movies and television shows that need to design story plots (script mode, novel mode). We found many small problems during the production of documentaries, such as how to let the story tell when designing problems. The narrative story of the writer becomes a fascinating copywriting, therefore, in the later editing, we want to re-shoot this interview many times. The narrator’s words often have some overlapping words and too many repeated sentences. I think maybe next time I need to improve the design of the interview so that the narrator can better express his own life story. Due to the fact that we have not been able to consider the relationship between the lens and language in depth after discovering the story of the characters, these small issues often make us a bit flustered when we edit the videos later on. I also understand the importance of lens design when it comes to the location picture. When the character becomes the protagonist of the lens language, I need to understand the “proportion problem” of the composition ratio in a picture. Documentary of the character proposed by the instructor should not appear too many person interviews and it should focus on one person, which made me understand that taking “useful” shots is more efficient than “many” shots.     A documentary should tell a story of ordinary people. This is what I learned in this course. Maybe everyone has many wonderful stories. Maybe the novel is not completely fictional. In the beginning, we collected a lot of themes and character stories, but finally found that many stories are unable to resonate with the audience. Diana’s story solves this problem well. It has always been a cultural feature of documentaries.     This documentary “The Pain of Growth” often has a repressive mental mood. When the “special” realistic approach is normal and exciting in the documentary, we know that the documentary is also a movie. It also needs to consider the audience.
