There are much more people on the ice rink than I thought. The temperature here is obviously lower than the outside so that people all wears long sleeves and pants which are suitable for skating. My friend is shaking her arms to make herself warmer. The skates we borrow look quite old, emitting the smell of damp socks. We finally make our first step on the ice, following the crowds to skate circularly along the fence. Suddenly, a gust of wind passes me. He wears the professional costumes of the figure skater: a white shirt, a short suit jacket covered in gold sequins and black straight leg trousers. His skates look super comfortable. Under the black leather shoes, sharp blades refract the dazzling light from the ice. He skates as agilely as the fishing swimming in the river. Although I can smoothly move on the ice, he is so much better than this. He performs a few basic figure skating moves at the centre of the rink, such as toe jumps, upright spin and camel spin. Once I even see him playing his phone while skating forward (Very dangerous, I won’t do it).

Those kids who are beginners also have a lot of fun. Some of them are sitting on a green plastic seal-shaped seats and their parents can skate behind to push them around on. Others are just trying their best to learn, falling down on the ice then standing up over and over.
