We did a one take video in this class!

I have watched a few one take videos on the internet, and my first impression of one take video is very well prepared, usually creative and requiring lots of effort. Also, when a movie presents a one take shot, reviewers will focus on it and analyse a lot.

This was my first time to do this one take video and I was quite excited. The theme is “misunderstanding”. Kay came up with the idea that a girl is followed by a stranger but finally she finds out that the stranger is her new classmate. We agreed with this idea, because it clearly show the “misunderstanding” and is quick to make it. We borrowed the camera and went downstair. Kris held the camera for our first time practice, we went over the whole trip from ground floor to our classroom. The story is that the girl is looking for her classroom and she feels she is been followed, and she runs, texts her mom, goes into the restroom to avoid the follower. We planned to go into the lift and shoot their face expression, however, we found that there was a mirror. As a result, we changed the plan that we just shot their feet when they entered the lift, and moved the camera up to their face.

I was the one shot the formal video. I should be in the front of the actor to take their face so that I was always running backwards. Kris stood behind me, held me and guided the direction so I won’t fall down.

Finally, we did it by shooting just once! Because I held the camera by hands and ran fast, the video was shaking but created the feeling of being followed and scaring. Liam suggested us to add the background music to make it more like a triller film.

I was happy with this group work and practiced my shooting skill.
