The First Media Workshop [W]

My first impression of the first (Most of us?) workshop in RMIT is… Some buildings are quite easy to get lost in it: Mine is located at Building 10, a building currently with a renovation. I had gotten to the right classroom a half hour before class as the school Club Welcome Day, and accidentally went down to the level with the construction, finally waste at least 5 mins to get out of it…

Our first workshop was beginning with… An Ice-breaking Game!! The thing all of us would have to do it again and again in every semester (unless you have totally forgotten about your week 1). Getting to know your classmates next to you then introduce them in front of the class. It’s just like routine right, but actually memorising a lot of names at once is nearly impossible, seems most of us are used to memorise what we have seen then what we have heard…

Then, a question had been brought forward by Brian, our lecturer as well,

What’s Media?

Um.. For me, Media are “things” that connecting everyone in our daily life, just like we figure out what we don’t know from Google or Wikipedia,  and we are communicating with social media tools or Email. Even a leaflet being thrown on the floor can also be related to print media…

For the rest of the class, we have been used to setting our own blog. It’s a bit difficult for me… (Or maybe I just not use to it) Since as I remember, the last time I am trying to figure out how blogs works was like 8 years ago,  just posting photos of my first study tour in Melbourne (Yeh~its Melbourne again!), using a famous blog website called Blogspot.com. However, WordPress is the most famous one nowadays, as its highly freedom of adjusting the blog appearance (even our blog is provided by them~!).

p.s.

The wireless network of RMIT University was quite difficult to be accessed at Building 10…

but according to my “experience”, it could be easier to be connected if you begin from connecting with other Wi-Fi network (e.g. The Wi-Fi hotspot of your smartphone), then the school’s one 😀
