Danny Gardiner worked on the Westgate bridge after the collapse in 1970. Prior to accepting work on the bridge, Danny initially dismissed the role as he had heard tales of terror and death from its previous demise. He was reassured of it’s safety and accepted the position as a rigger and trades assistant to his friend. This flourished into becoming a union official and It ended up being the best thing that’s happened to him. Danny continues his work with the committee today.
