Today’s lecture was given by Kyla Brettle, who is the professional audio maker. The topic of ‘Writing in sound’ was titled for today’s lecture. In fact, we are going to make our own audio as our PB4 assignment, so this lecture is a good chance to note some valuable perspectives for preparing our owns.
Kyla played some audios as the examples, which allow us to get some points from them. To start with, the listeners may lose their interest after 3-4 minutes due to the reason that audio is without any pictures or actions to attract audiences’ attention. Therefore, the voice becomes the most important thing. Kyla mentioned three key points: sound, voice and music. In deed, these are very vital elements to compose a completed audio production. Firstly, the tone of voice should be noticed because no one will concentrate on it if you just speak in a less-than-enthusiasitic tone of voice, it will be as damaging as a negative remark. In addition, sound effect is fairly important. Although people won’t take too much notice of it, it can hint what is the speaker going to talk about. Besides, when we edit the audio, we need to pay attention on the layers, which means that all the sound be combined together suitably and smoothly. Therefore, I am wondering how to make my audio to be more attractive and nature to get audiences’ attention by using different kind of techniques.
In short, this lecture is helpful and gives us a lot of tips for producing a perfect audio production.
