For this assignment, I have tried various cinematography techniques during my experiments and then made this short piece of observational montage film. I used montage with a few shots with different sights as well as colors in them for my opening scene. Hence it flows nicely with the overlapping background music. To avoid a relatively dull atmosphere in this work, I tried to add more elements that are vivid. For instance, I have captured birds flying across the sky, the couple having their lovely picnic date under the trees, duck feeding itself by diving into the water suddenly, and child playing around in the park. I used some camera movements such as spanning up and down, zooming in and out while filming. I have also tried to create a poetic image with closeup shot on the side face of sculpture since I had focused on his eye and water in the fountain made it flow on his face and then dropping off from his apex nazi. Another poetic shot is the low angle, one of capturing winds breezing on the surface of the water. I was trying to make the shots touchable and attract the audience. Besides, I also tried to connect everything by intermixed scenes of people, animals, and views. I have put shots of families spending their leisure time and parents holding their child’s hand walking into the entrance of the park. Therefore, this film intends to tell the audiences about how this beautiful and historical park has accompanied people of generation after generation, brings them glorious memories. Hence, the meaning behind my work would be the importance of “family,” I believe it is always the most significant thing to spend some time with people’s loved ones during weekends, and one of the best places I would like to suggest is this park. Documentaries can lead people to think deeply about various issues. I hope to learn and practice more in this studio, as well as this industry.
