week 12

I really loved working in the group with Jula, Jenica, Rain, and Zoe. We really enjoyed the process of making the documentary film. Sometimes we spent a bit too much time joking with each other, but I am really glad that work with them. Towards the end of this term, I believe that i improve the skills of shooting, editing, and communicating with others. In the processing of filming, I was responsible for shooting the B-roll and interviewing. We also tried to edit them in two different styles, the first one is very formal like the normal documentary style but the second one is more casual. When it comes to the most successful elements in our documentaries, I really like the locations we chose for the interview. A appropriate location can tell the audiences what’s going to happen before the story presented. Moreover, I was really glad to film people playing with the animals and tread them very kindly. We don’t have a very strong argument in our documentary to exactly tell the audiences what we want to achieved, we just use the people’s stories showing that we need to protect farm animals.

According to the research, the treatment of farm animals is the world’s biggest animal welfare issue, and it’s getting bigger. By 2050, livestock production will be twice what it was in 2000. Right now, more than 70 billion animals are farmed for food each year. These animals have virtually no legal protections whatsoever. That’s why our group decided to make the documentary about farm animal protection, In short, we want call on people to reduce the consumption of meat and treat animals as friends.

Finally, through this studio, I have learned a lot skills more than filming, editing. We practised to make the food show, work as a group, communicate with people you don’t know before. Everyone love to eat delicious food but I seldom to think about the culture or the existing phenomenon behind the food. For example, the deep research on the topic of farm animals and food wasting really shocked me. The problem is getting serious, we really need to think more about it.
