Notes on blindness is a documentary directed by Peter Middleton and it is profiling John Hull who became blind after decades of steady deteriorating vision. Even though it was the story about the blind profession John hull while from my point of view, it is the documentary telling how John Hull became bright from the dark. Since gradually in this story, John Hull returned to his own place and he determined to get rid of the nostalgia while in reality, he accepted his blindness. He ended with enjoyment and appreciation of his life. This story is very inspiring and the story of John Hull tells us that the dilemma in our life is not fearful and if we have a brave heart, we can overcome it. As for the filming technique of this documentary, the narrative storytelling of this documentary is very engaging and it is so wrenchingly honest that the film did not fall into the self-pity and it does not rely on the mystical platitude. Moreover, the scene of this documentary is very impressive. It evokes the sightless with the application of figures in silhouette, shadowy palette and the brief interludes where the screen goes dark. This strategy contributes to the beautiful moment shot of the brilliant color. Moreover, I think the words of profession Hull in the end, was very enlightening, he said, the blindness is not a gift I want, but a gift nonetheless.
