Media Workshop – 2

In this class, I knew how difficulty media is, especially about Adobe Premiere Pr…

I enjoyed the time at the beginning of the class. Mr. Brian gave each group a piece of post paper and asked us to write down ideas about ‘Media Studies Is…’ or ‘Purpose of Media Studies’. I wrote ‘creativity’, ‘storytelling’, ‘advertising’ these three key words on the post. Then, we discussed together and tried to came up with more ideas. Most impressively of all, there was an answer is ‘selling’. Actually, I agree with this answer because companies and businessmen can earn money through advertise their business, selling their copyright about photos, music and drama etc. At the same time, it also reflects that media is omnipresent, the public would use many sorts of social media platforms at any time, and it is a correct choice to use media platforms to earn money.

After that, we spent nearly an hour on group presentation about PB 1. Moreover, Mr. Brian taught us how to give feedback and related to the ‘Colored Hats’ system’. It’s interesting because each member in the group have one piece of paper and write four colors, which are ‘Yellow’, ‘Red’, ‘Black’ and ‘Green’. People who hold different colors need to give different perspective of feedback about the presentation. ‘Yellow’ means positive or optimistic, which means people who hold ‘yellow’ card needs to say something that videos or audios or photos works well; ‘Red’ means initial feeling or gut reaction; ‘Black’ means something that does not work; ‘Green’ means alternative or creative ideas sparked by the work.

I was glad that all members in the group were satisfied with my videos, audios and photos. However, one thing I need to improve is to make the voice of ‘running’ more clearly.

The last part of this class is Project Brief 2 discussion. We got the requirements of PB 2 from modificatory and need to download Adobe Premiere Pro to finish the work. Mr. Brian introduced and explained about ‘Haiku Exercise’ as well, although I cannot get the idea until now. It is hard to me because it is my first time to do the work like this, such as cut the video and mix multiple short videos into one whole. Although Mr. Brian taught us a little bit about that, but I still felt confusing. Anyway, I believe I can figure it out by myself in the next few days.
