Workshop – 12

25 May, 2017 Media Workshop – 12 I cannot believe today is the last day for media workshop. For today’s workshop, Mr. Brian invited two media makers to give us some suggestions about the rough cut of Project Brief 4 and also needed to receive the feedback from another group. Gareth and I showed our rough cut to Catherine (one of the adviser) and also received the feedback from Nagini’s group. The feedback from Catherine was really valuable but mildly brutal as well. However, she made some good suggestions for how to make it better. To aviod forgetting these crucial points, it is necessary for me to write down:

  1. Our theme is about ‘How have narrative practices evolved to meet the changing modes of viewing?’, but through the rough cut, it is hard for the audiences to understand the main ideas. The audiences may wonder why are you saying all these things? The skips between each section in the audio would be strange and make the audiences cannot get it.
  2. I am the only girl in the group and not a native speaker. If I start to speak suddenly, it will make the audiences confused because of the female voice and the pronunciation.
  3. Brandon read the content is too inflexible and the language we used is too stuff.

To slove these issue, I came up with the following suggestions:

  1. We can add the introduction at the beginning of the audio to illustrate our theme of the audio and tell the audiences what we are going to talk about in the following minutes briefly. Moreover, it is possible to add some connect sentences when the narrator start to speak.
  2. When I start to speak, I can say something not important at first, so that there are some time for the audiences to adapt my voice and pronunciation.
  3. We have to go for the ‘pop’ style of language and read creative and active!

From the feedback of Nagini’s group, they think we have the good cooperate between the voice of background and the our audio. The background music start with a peacful sound, but when we start to speak something important, the music becomes stronger and powerful. Anyway, it is a valuable workshop for our project! We will think about all suggestions we got and try to figure issues out! It would be fun!
