iMovie

4 May, 2017

For the initiative post in this week, I want to write the experience that I learnt how to use iMovie.

I never used Premiere Pro and iMovie before. I had no idea about how to use Premiere Pro when I did Project Brief 2, so I asked my friends: ‘Do you know how to use Premiere Pro?’ All of them said: ‘No.’ The reason is Premiere Pro is too difficult to use and so complex, they cannot use it very well. Thus, I leant on my own and also searched online. Many of my friends asked me:’Why not use iMovie? It is for free and easier. You do not need to download it, because you can find it in your macbook laptop!’ I opened the iMovie, but I did not know how to use it as well, so I gave up. Maybe Premiere Pro is more suitable for me I thought…

Recently, after submitted Project Brief 3, I am more interested in editing, so I decided to study how to use iMovie. It is the initial application that designed by Apple, but I never used it before. Even I do not know it is used for editing.

I spent half an hour to learn how to use it. By the way, thanks to Jessie, because she taught me how to upload videos, audios and images; how to edit audios and subtitles…

Overall, for the beginners, iMovie is really easier than Premiere Pro. iMovie could adjust the voice band and make the effections of subtitles. However, iMovie still have some weaknesses, for example, I cannot just play the audio without images or videos, but Premiere Pro can do it. Moreover, by comparing forms of effect, Premiere Pro have more forms than iMovie when do the transition of each images or videos.

For myself, I prefer to use Premiere Pro. I really do not know the reason, maybe just as the saying goes: first impression is strongest. I think I have already used to use Premiere Pro and another reason is …. I paid money for this application!!!

Anyway, editing is an interesting work and I enjoy to learn it, whatever use which applications to edit the video!
