There are several galleries in the Melbourne Museum, but the one which is most interested me is Mind and Body Gallery. The game of cards is the interactive artwork that grabs my attention. This game is more like to test the memory for sounds. It requires users to match the pairs in a grid of 12 faced-down cards. The users need to listen for the note that plays as select a card; then the cards that match sounding the same note. It is allowed players to use the cards they pressed before, and recall it when they hear the same tone again.
For the key ideas, I thought there might be a tool to set up sorts of different sounds of tones in random to each card. When the player selects a card, the card will be flipped and the corresponding sound will be played. This program will continue to work until each pair of cards is flipped and the sound matches successfully, then the game resets back to the main menu. This game uses touch screen technology, however, it cannot achieve via Max, so maybe other tools will replace it, such as the keyboard, the kslider or mouse.
This interactive artwork encourages me to achieve something of this nature for my final project. Game is a good and simple way to catch users attention for a long time so I would like to create a new game, maybe focus on sounds, music, tabs, rate of the game, and the use of time limitation. Firstly, I believe that the tactile project can give audiences more sense of interaction because it needs you to do some actions to operate the work. The physical touching always brings people a sense of existence. Moreover, to get the first attention easily, the game needs to be simple and easy to understand. At last, multiple levels of the game might be helpful, so that players will want to play further once they pass the previous level. There are still many details I need to improve and think about, I will retry over and over and improve on it. All in all, this artwork gives me inspiration for the final project and I am looking forward to developing it further.
