Reflection of Group Work

26 May, 2017 Actually, I wanted to write the reflection of this course, but I have already wrote everything I want to evaluate myself in the lecturial post. Thus, this initiative blog I want to write the reflection of group work. We grouped in a group of 3 students in a randomly in Week 9 workshop. To be honest, I felt hopeless when I knew I need to work with two men… I am really not good at work with male. However, I found Brandon and Gareth are two kindful and friendly teammates!!! I had no idea about Project Brief 4 at first, so they decided the theme we will work on is about ‘television’ and the main question we may focus on is ‘how have narrative practices evolved to meet the changing modes of viewing?’. However, this topic is still hard to me because ‘Stranger Thing’ and ‘Netflix’ would be discussed but I knew nothing about these two because of the policy of Chinese government. Beyond all expectations, I finally did a well job when we finished Project Brief 4. For the process of working on Project Brief 4, Gareth and Brandon encouraged me a lot and taught me so many knowledge about ‘Netflix’, ‘Stranger Things’, even about how to use Adobe Audition. Gareth is good at music and editing and I have a deep impression on his Project Brief 2, which is about himself and I remembered there are many machinesĀ for recording and playing music in his home. So, he really made great effort for our group. He is a creative and active guy, so when we tried to come up with ideas about our topic, he gave us numbers of fresh ideas! Moreover, he has the best skills of editing, so he taught us how to edit audios by using Adobe Audition. In addition, as I said, I was not good at this topic because of different cultures, so he gave me a lot of help, such as use simple sentences to explain to me (some information online are not clear enough) and thanks that he was willing to taught me these knowledges in his free time. Brandon is good at writing, so when we wrote the draft for the recording, his ideas really worked. He could come up with some useful ideas about how to connect to the next narrator, how to express some sentences clearer. By the way, Brandon’s voice is so suitable for recording I think! He really has good voice especially when we did the record. I think he is suitable to be an announcer! For me, although I am not good at this topic, but I really tried to learn moreĀ about it. My role in the team is to write down some ideas we came up with, and the feedback from teachers or others. Meanwhile, I always have some suggestions about the audio and my advices always works! In addition, my another role is to remind us what we need to do in each week because female always moreĀ scrupulous. To sum up, collaboration is the first lesson for us if we want to be a good media maker. I think our group had a perfect cooperation of Project Brief 4. We had clear objectives, we could trust what you are going to do, we had great time management, we supported each and be responsibility and shared workload! For me, the most valuable thing is to learn a lot about different cultures and the skills of editing audio! Thanks, Gareth and Brandon, hope we will satisfied with our work!
