Media Workshop – 11
For this week’s workshop, we had a ‘Audio Recording and Editing Exercise’ needed to practice.
The theme of the exercise is ‘Can I Have Your Attention’?
Gareth, Brandon and I recorded the sounds on the street, such as the bell of the tram, the voice from the traffic and some background sound from the public. Then, we went to Building 6 and tried to get a studio room for recording. However, unfortunately, there were no space for us. So, we came to Building 9 and it was so lucky that there was still one studio room left! We recorded the sounds that we need here, such as the sound of breathe, the conversation etc.
In the audio, I need to speak very angrily, but to be honest, I really do not know how to do without any real situation. It is hard for me to speak English when I become angry!!! If I am angry, I always speak Chinese to swear at people. (But I really seldom swear, I promise!!!) To help me pretended to be angry, Gareth and Brandon asked me to speak Chinese to swear at people. ‘Speak Chinese?? Are you sure speak Chinese in the audio??’ I was so suprised. When I speak Chinese to swear, my tone would be angry. Suddenly, Brandon said:’ Speak in English!’ I spoke my lines with a tone of angre successfully!!
I really enjoy do the group work with them! They taught me a lot in editing skills and knowledge of local culture. Thanks Gareth and Brandon!!
Here is the audio we completed today:
