Week 3

This blog , I want to analyze the use of Hue  in Life is Beautiful .

Each color film has its basic hue, and different scenes also has different hue depend on time, circumstances, mood and time. The needs will also have different shades of color. In addition to enriching the color of the scene, it can also add drama ,atmosphere and its symbolic significance.

Most of the first part uses warm colors, humor, harmony and warmth. The film uses a lot of white light, and only a small section of the theater’s stage uses colored light. Without dazzling colored light , it better highlights the theme of the film, the tragic fate of the Jews. Starting from the protagonist, he is always with full of sunshine. From daytime to night, from sunny to rainy days, it is also bright and warm.In the pursuit of Dora, their encounter and experience  are always full of bizarre and romantic atmosphere,  and with bright outdoor natural light. Regardless of the day and night, the colors are always warm. The characters are immersed in the happy, cozy，romantic, and peaceful atmosphere.  However, in the later scene, as the story developed, the film is in the cool tone with cool light.  Guido and his son were caught on a train going to the concentration camp. The  film started to use darkness and low-key from here. The use of darkness helps depict the emotion of fear and  emphasize the begin of tragic.  At the end of the film, the brightness appears again, and the darkness disperse. The boy was saved and the war ends temporarily. The sun has come back, when the boy  was on the way home. In the end, there is a version the boy met her mother again, and the light was warm and soft again.
